About the role

Role overview

Join Salesforce as Director of Product Management for Enterprise API. You will own the strategy, roadmap, and delivery for Salesforce’s Enterprise API portfolio, leading a cross-functional team of 20+ engineers across multiple geographies.

Key missions

  • Define and defend the long-range vision for the Enterprise API area, including priorities for the next 6–12 months and building the business case to secure leadership buy-in.
  • Own product direction for data movement and large-scale querying, including:
    • Evolution of the Bulk API
    • Data synchronization
    • Modernization of Data Loader
  • Act as the main point of contact for customer feedback and escalations, turning input into evidence and identifying patterns across accounts.
  • Serve as a trusted subject-matter expert for customers, including participation in enterprise events.

Responsibilities

  • Lead portfolio product direction, tradeoffs, and high-impact product decisions (e.g., API contracts, deprecations, breaking changes).
  • Bring commercial discipline to the portfolio using adoption metrics, usage telemetry, cost-to-serve analysis, and competitive awareness.
  • Translate customer and field signals into actionable product artifacts that accelerate engineering delivery.
  • Engage with customers through advisory calls and field escalations; communicate clearly to executives and technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience in technical leadership.
  • 8+ years product management experience, including 4+ years owning developer-facing or platform infrastructure API products.
  • Proven ability to use AI tools to create working artifacts (e.g., prototypes, POCs, API clients/consumers, automations, workflows) that feed directly into engineering.
  • Strong written communication across PRDs, strategy papers, executive briefs, and developer content.
  • Hands-on technical depth in API architectures and specifications:
    • REST & OpenAPI, SOAP, GraphQL, OAuth 2.0, and API versioning patterns
  • Ability to exercise and prototype APIs directly using tools such as cURL and Postman, and to read/prototype against APIs.
  • Clear understanding of how API requirements differ when the caller is an AI agent rather than a human developer.
  • Demonstrated capability to drive alignment proactively (generate direction, build artifacts, influence engineering and leadership).

Nice-to-haves / additional signals

  • Prior experience at Salesforce or comparable enterprise platforms (SAP, Microsoft, ServiceNow, Workday).
  • Familiarity with Salesforce Core APIs.
  • Experience with AI agent frameworks such as Model Context Protocol (MCP) or agentic orchestration patterns, especially around access control/authorization for non-human principals.
