Director of Product Management

Role Overview

Join Affirm as the Director of Product Management to lead and scale product teams in key domains including Loans Lifecycle and Money Movement. You will set multi-year product strategy, act as domain authority, and drive cross-functional alignment at organizational scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a high-performing product management team (6–10 product managers), setting the bar for product craft and fostering a culture of ownership
• Own the vision and multi-year strategy for Loans Lifecycle and Money Movement, translating strategy into clear roadmaps
• Drive cross-functional alignment with Engineering and Finance-adjacent stakeholders, including:
  • Accounting, Treasury, Capital Markets, Legal, Compliance, and Client Success
• Enable platform scalability and support international expansion
• Measure and improve platform health using data and operational insights
• Influence organizational thinking and raise product-management standards across the company

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent practical experience)
• 10+ years of product management experience
• 3–5+ years managing and developing PM teams, including people managers (total leadership: managing a team of 6–10)
• Strong ability to set and execute long-term platform strategy in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
• Exceptional stakeholder management, aligning Legal, Finance, Engineering, and executives around a common direction
• Technical fluency: comfortable discussing data models and APIs with engineers and forming informed opinions
• Proficiency with AI-assisted tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor)
• Experience in fintech/financial services/banking; BNPL, platform products, and/or backend infrastructure preferred
• Meaningful experience in money movement/payments infrastructure/financial operations, including payment rails, settlement flows, and cross-border transfers
• Deep experience in loans/lending systems, including loan lifecycle mechanics, servicing/platform architecture, and compliance/operational requirements
• Outstanding written and verbal communication; can deliver crisp, data-driven narratives to diverse audiences
• Track record scaling distributed product organizations across multiple domains
