Director of Product Design

Role Overview

Join Proof Technology as Director of Product Design, partnering with the CPO and CTO to lead design across the full Proof product system. You’ll evolve the design system and interaction patterns, run lightweight research practices, and help define where AI can meaningfully improve the product.

Key Missions

• Contribute to product strategy as a strategic partner to the CPO and CTO, helping teams decide which problems to solve.
• Lead end-to-end design across the Proof system, including:
  • Client workflows
  • Field tools
  • Internal operations
• Manage and grow a team of designers through:
  • thoughtful hiring
  • establishing an effective team operating rhythm
  • keeping the team close to real user workflows

Responsibilities

• Turn complex multi-actor B2B workflows into clear, trustworthy, and fast product experiences.
• Build reusable systems through patterns and information architecture; ensure the design system creates leverage.
• Use customer evidence to influence product strategy beyond design taste.
• Make strong tradeoff calls around problem sequencing and product decisions.
• Define how AI should be used responsibly to create leverage, not gimmicks.

Requirements

• Experience designing complex multi-actor B2B workflows where understanding the work matters more than surface-level UI.
• Ability to improve work in Figma, through critique, and in product conversations.
• Strong thinking in patterns, information architecture, and reusable systems.
• Evidence-driven product influence (comfortable challenging sequencing and tradeoffs).
• Ability to manage designers: hiring, coaching, direct feedback, raising craft, and developing strong ICs into product thinkers.
• Product instincts around AI (leverage vs. risk; practical usefulness).
• Cross-platform experience across web and mobile.
• Experience relevant to domains such as legal tech, logistics, marketplaces, support tooling, or workflow-centric domains.
• Experience building or resetting design quality in a Series B/C environment.
