Director of Product Design

Role overview

Affinity is hiring a Director of Product Design (fully remote) to lead and grow the product design team. You’ll set the bar for design craft and research, and collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership on product vision and strategy.

Key missions

• Build and lead a high-performing product design organization by recruiting, training, and developing designers as the team grows
• Define and maintain high standards for quality and craftsmanship (what “excellence” means at Affinity)
• Partner with Product and Engineering leaders on strategy, roadmap, and operating model to drive durable results

Responsibilities

• Lead team development: coaching, feedback, and building trust
• Ensure strong design and research practice across interaction, visual design, and product thinking
• Influence company strategy by linking design decisions to business outcomes

Requirements

• 10+ years in product design; 7+ years building, coaching, and leading high-performing design/UX teams
• Clear perspective on how AI is reshaping design craft—what changes, what doesn’t, and where the craft bar should sit
• Strategic mindset: connect design decisions to business outcomes and manage trade-offs across short/long horizons
• Demonstrated taste and craft in interaction design, visual design, research, and product thinking, with a portfolio of shipped/led work
• Strong people leadership with high empathy and direct feedback
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to rally and represent design to non-designers
• Proven experience partnering with Product and Engineering on strategy and execution
• Deep experience designing enterprise software and understanding professional user workflows and stakes
