About the role
Role Overview
Director of Engineering for a remote team, responsible for managing and scaling an engineering organization that supports hospital pharmacy intelligence products. The role partners closely with Product leadership to ensure timely delivery of high-quality, predictable releases across multiple hospital systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead multiple product engineering teams building multi-tenant enterprise SaaS for hospital customers (own people, process, and outcomes).
- Build and sustain a high-performing engineering culture:
- Develop engineering managers
- Drive accountability
- Create clear career growth paths
- Partner with Product to maintain technical health, manage delivery risk, and ship with quality and predictability.
- Drive cross-team collaboration and alignment, improving reuse and shared ownership with internal platform teams.
- Mature engineering practices:
- Planning
- ADRs (Architectural Decision Records)
- Documentation
- Quality
- Engineering metrics (delivery, developer experience, reliability)
- Own and manage cloud infrastructure costs at team and product level.
- Lead or support post-acquisition engineering integrations (set standards, build trust, accelerate time-to-cohesion).
- Participate in technical/architectural reviews and set a high bar across teams.
Requirements
- 12+ years building enterprise SaaS products.
- 5+ years leading engineering organizations through growth.
- Proven experience leading distributed, remote-first engineering teams of 20+ through engineering managers.
- Track record scaling engineering orgs: hiring, developing managers, building career frameworks, managing performance with clarity and empathy.
- Experience leading post-acquisition integrations and adopting cultures without losing what made teams successful.
- Strong operator mindset: diagnose delivery problems and fix them without micromanagement.
- High-trust partnership skills with Product, Data, and DevOps peers; navigate tension constructively.
- Comfort managing cloud costs at scale; AWS-first architectures.
- High EQ; lead through ambiguity, drive change, and communicate with clarity and respect.
