About the role
Role Overview
Director of Engineering (Remote) to manage and scale an engineering organization for hospital pharmacy intelligence products. You will influence technical decisions, build a high-performing remote-first culture, and ensure timely delivery of quality across multiple hospital systems.
Accountabilities
- Lead and scale multiple product engineering teams building multi-tenant, enterprise SaaS for hospital customers (own people/process/outcomes).
- Develop engineering leadership and culture: grow engineering managers, drive accountability, and establish career growth paths.
- Partner with Product leadership to maintain technical health, manage delivery risk, and improve quality and predictability.
- Improve cross-team collaboration across engineering and internal platform teams (reuse, shared ownership, alignment).
- Mature engineering practices including:
- planning
- ADRs (Architectural Decision Records)
- documentation
- quality
- engineering metrics (delivery, developer experience, reliability)
- Own and manage cloud infrastructure costs at team and product levels.
- Lead/support post-acquisition integrations: set standards, build trust, and accelerate time-to-cohesion.
- Participate in technical/architectural reviews and set a high bar across teams.
Requirements
- 12+ years building enterprise SaaS products, with 5+ years leading engineering organizations through growth.
- Proven experience leading distributed, remote-first teams (20+ people) through engineering managers.
- Demonstrated ability to scale organizations: hiring, developing managers, career frameworks, and performance management with clarity and empathy.
- Experience integrating acquired engineering teams while maintaining culture and strengths.
- Strong operator mindset: understands engineering metrics and can fix delivery issues without micromanaging.
- High-trust collaboration with Product, Data, and DevOps; can navigate tension constructively.
- Cloud cost management at scale; comfortable with AWS-first architectures.
- High EQ: lead through ambiguity, drive change, and communicate “no” clearly and respectfully.
