About the role
Role Overview
Director of Engineering for a remote-first team responsible for scaling the engineering organization that supports hospital pharmacy intelligence products. You’ll lead multiple product engineering teams, influence technical strategy, and build a high-performance culture focused on reliable delivery and quality across hospital systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead and scale engineering teams across multiple product areas, owning people, process, and delivery outcomes.
- Build and sustain a high-performing engineering culture: develop engineering managers, drive accountability, and create clear growth paths.
- Partner with Product leadership to maintain technical health, manage delivery risk, and ensure predictable, high-quality shipping.
- Drive cross-team collaboration and alignment, improving reuse and shared ownership (including internal platform teams).
- Mature engineering practices: planning, ADRs, documentation, quality, and engineering metrics (delivery, developer experience, reliability).
- Own cloud infrastructure cost management at team and product levels.
- Support post-acquisition integrations: set standards, build trust, and accelerate time-to-cohesion.
- Participate in technical/architectural reviews and set a high bar.
Requirements
- 12+ years building enterprise SaaS products, including 5+ years leading engineering organizations through growth.
- Proven experience leading distributed, remote-first teams of 20+ through engineering managers.
- Track record scaling organizations: hiring, developing managers, career frameworks, and performance management with clarity and empathy.
- Experience leading post-acquisition integrations.
- Strong operator mindset: can diagnose delivery issues and fix them without micromanaging.
- High-trust collaboration experience with Product, Data, and DevOps peers; can navigate tension constructively.
- Cloud cost management experience at scale; comfortable with AWS-first architectures.
- High EQ: lead through ambiguity, drive change, and communicate decisions clearly and respectfully.
