About the role

Role Overview

Director of Engineering (Remote) responsible for leading and scaling an engineering organization that builds hospital pharmacy intelligence products. The role combines technical influence with strong people leadership to deliver enterprise SaaS reliably as the organization grows and integrates acquired teams.

Accountabilities

  • Lead and scale multiple product engineering teams delivering multi-tenant enterprise SaaS for hospital customers (own people, process, and outcomes).
  • Build a high-performing engineering culture by developing engineering managers, driving accountability, and creating growth paths.
  • Partner with Product leadership on technical health, delivery risk management, and quality/predictable shipping.
  • Drive cross-team collaboration to improve reuse, shared ownership, and alignment (including internal platform teams).
  • Mature engineering practices: planning, ADRs (Architectural Decision Records), documentation, quality, and engineering metrics (delivery, developer experience, reliability).
  • Own and manage cloud infrastructure costs at the team and product level.
  • Lead and/or support post-acquisition integrations (set standards, build trust, achieve time-to-cohesion).
  • Participate in technical/architectural reviews and set a high bar across teams.

Requirements

  • 12+ years building enterprise SaaS products.
  • 5+ years leading engineering organizations through growth.
  • Proven leadership of distributed, remote-first engineering teams of 20+, via engineering managers.
  • Track record scaling teams through hiring, manager development, career frameworks, and clear, empathetic performance management.
  • Experience leading post-acquisition integrations and preserving effective team culture.
  • Strong operating/metrics mindset: can diagnose delivery problems and fix them without micromanaging.
  • High-trust partnership with Product, Data, and DevOps; navigate tension constructively.
  • Experience managing cloud costs at scale; comfortable with AWS-first architectures.
  • High EQ; lead through ambiguity, drive change, and communicate “no” clearly and respectfully.
