Role Overview

Director of Engineering at a partner company (for this posting). You will lead and guide a high-impact engineering team building software solutions at the intersection of automation, artificial intelligence, and spatial computing—turning complex challenges into scalable commercial products.

Responsibilities

  • Set and lead engineering strategy, team development, and overall product execution while staying hands-on.
  • Build and lead a high-performing engineering team; contribute to technical design, architecture, and software development.
  • Drive applied R&D focused on:
    • Multi-agent pathfinding
    • 3D spatial routing
    • OCR-based data extraction from complex technical documents
  • Own the full product development lifecycle from concept/research to stable, scalable releases.
  • Design and implement core platform capabilities with strong code quality, performance, and maintainability.
  • Define technical direction, architecture standards, and engineering best practices for long-term growth.
  • Partner with executive leadership and technical stakeholders to make strategic technology decisions.
  • Mentor engineers and foster a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Navigate ambiguity by setting priorities and driving execution in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong record of hands-on contribution.
  • Proven leadership experience; ability to balance leadership with deep technical problem-solving.
  • Expertise in multi-agent pathfinding and routing algorithms in 2D/3D spatial environments.
  • Desirable: strong knowledge of OCR, computer vision, and real-world document processing.
  • Strong academic/professional foundation in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related quantitative field.
  • Demonstrated ability to take commercial software from early concepts through production.
  • Advanced C# development skills and strong architecture/system design capabilities.
  • Experience building scalable, maintainable systems.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States (visa sponsorship referenced).
  • Occasional travel for meetings/team events.

Nice to Have

  • Strong academic/professional foundation plus research-to-product experience in AI/spatial computing and document understanding.
