About the role

Role Overview

CoderPad is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead multiple North America and Latin America-based product engineering teams. You will help set the technical and organizational direction of the platform, combining people leadership with technical strategy to deliver high-quality software with strong system health and engineering velocity.

Responsibilities

Lead multiple engineering teams and support very senior engineers to ensure consistent delivery and strong technical quality.
Define technical architecture and long-term system strategy across teams (in collaboration with EMEA leadership).
Own and manage technical roadmaps with VP Product, VP Engineering, and other Directors across regions; address technical debt and system health.
Partner closely with Product Management to align engineering strategy with product priorities and customer needs.
Ensure teams have clear execution plans via backlog management, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
Drive and protect engineering velocity by removing blockers, keeping delivery cadence high, and treating speed as a first-class value alongside quality.
Make decisions with imperfect information and hold teams accountable for outcomes; ensure work is completed end-to-end.
Measure team effectiveness and continuously improve delivery processes, engineering practices, and performance.
Conduct 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development for senior engineering staff.
Manage hiring, onboarding, performance, and exits for your teams.
Maintain visibility into system reliability and operational health; participate in on-call rotations when needed.
Engage with customers to understand pain points and ensure engineering work delivers real customer value.

Requirements

12+ years of software engineering experience, with significant time in technical leadership/management.
Experience managing engineering teams and engineering managers.
Strong people leadership across hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance reviews, and difficult conversations.
Proven record leading teams to deliver complex, reliable systems.
Passion for developer tooling and strong hands-on fluency with AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) used daily.
