Director of Engineering

Role Overview

Director of Engineering (US-Based, Remote) Lead and scale a distributed engineering organization for a high-growth SaaS platform. You will oversee multiple engineering teams and front-line engineering managers, partnering closely with executive leadership, product management, and architecture to drive execution and technical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop engineering managers and technical leaders across multiple teams
• Build an engineering culture focused on accountability, collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement
• Scale engineering operations via hiring, onboarding, organizational planning, and career development
• Improve engineering processes, delivery predictability, and development workflows across teams
• Partner with Product and cross-functional leadership to align technical execution with business priorities
• Establish best practices for architecture, testing, CI/CD, observability, and platform reliability
• Drive communication and alignment across distributed teams in multiple time zones
• Strengthen management capabilities and develop future engineering leaders
• Create a high-performing, inclusive, transparent remote-first engineering environment

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with significant engineering leadership responsibility
• Proven ability to manage managers and oversee multiple engineering teams in a scaling organization
• Strong background in Agile delivery, DevOps practices, CI/CD, and modern software engineering operations
• Experience scaling distributed engineering organizations in remote or hybrid environments
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to balance technical quality, delivery execution, and organizational health
• Strong technical foundation to guide architectural and engineering decisions
