Director of Engineering

Role Overview

Bluesight is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead and scale engineering for a portfolio of hospital pharmacy intelligence products. The role is part of the engineering leadership team, with technical influence across multi-tenant, enterprise SaaS offerings and ownership of people, process, and delivery outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and scale engineering teams building multi-tenant enterprise SaaS for hospital customers (own people, process, and outcomes)
• Build a high-performing engineering culture: develop engineering managers, drive accountability, and create career growth paths
• Partner with Product leadership to maintain technical health, manage delivery risk, and ensure predictable, high-quality shipping
• Drive cross-team collaboration to improve reuse, shared ownership, and alignment with internal platform teams
• Mature engineering practices: planning, Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), documentation, quality, and engineering metrics (delivery, developer experience, reliability)
• Own and manage cloud infrastructure costs at team and product levels
• Lead/support post-acquisition integrations: set standards, build trust, and accelerate time-to-cohesion
• Participate in technical/architectural reviews and set a high bar across teams

Requirements

• 12+ years building enterprise SaaS; 5+ years leading engineering organizations through growth inflection points
• Proven track record leading distributed, remote-first teams of 20+ through engineering managers
• Experience scaling orgs: hiring, manager development, career frameworks, and performance management with clarity and empathy
• Experience with post-acquisition integrations and culture-building
• Strong operator: understands engineering metrics and can diagnose/fix delivery problems without micromanaging
• High-trust collaboration with Product, Data, and DevOps peers; can navigate tension constructively
• Experience managing AWS-first cloud architectures and cloud cost management at scale
• High EQ and change leadership through ambiguity; ability to say no clearly and respectfully

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

• Data-intensive or event-driven architectures (Kinesis, Step Functions, Serverless)
• AWS cost optimization tooling (Cost Explorer, Savings Plans)
• Experience in healthcare or other regulated SaaS environments
