Director of Engineering - Baked Goods - Remote

Role Overview

The Director of Engineering will report directly to the COO and serve as a senior leadership team member, designing and delivering a group-wide engineering strategy across all sites. You will own significant investment/project budgets and implement engineering standards through dedicated project teams and site-based engineering functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and execute a group engineering strategy for all manufacturing sites.
• Own capital project delivery, including:
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Building/capacity expansions (brownfield/greenfield)
  • Improvements and new technology projects
• Identify, vet, and champion new manufacturing opportunities and emerging technical advancements.
• Lead engineering counsel and provide leadership for multiple facilities and internal project engineers.
• Develop and implement a 3–5 year Capital Plan, including prioritizing plant needs.
• Drive cost reduction initiatives (capital and non-capital) through:
  • Process/equipment improvements
  • Capital automation and robotic opportunities
• Aid evaluation of new business and line extensions.
• Future-proof and restructure the group engineering function, optimizing:
  • Site and equipment
  • People, systems, and processes
  • Capability across the organization.
• Act as an ambassador for CI, Lean, and OPEX processes.

Requirements

• 10–15 years leading engineering projects.
• Food manufacturing and baking experience is required.
• Engineering project management experience.
• Hands-on problem-solving approach with creative solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred (equivalent technical degree or experience considered).

Nice-to-Haves

• Demonstrated success improving standardization and implementing best practices in manufacturing environments.
• Experience restructuring/optimizing engineering organizations and operating systems.
