About the role
Role Overview
Join Alchemy as Director of Engineering, Infrastructure & Platform. You will own the vision, strategy, and execution of the company’s core platform—leading multiple teams to ensure reliability, performance, and cost efficiency at massive scale. You’ll set long-term technical direction, partner with Product and Executive Leadership, and drive execution excellence as the organization scales.
Responsibilities
- Lead and scale multiple engineering teams across:
- Cloud Infrastructure
- Platform
- Data Platform
- Internal Tooling
- Define and own platform/infrastructure strategy to ensure scalability, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Drive execution excellence by evolving processes, setting clear priorities, and ensuring predictable delivery.
- Build, mentor, and retain high-performing engineering leaders and ICs.
- Shape and strengthen engineering culture.
- Stay ahead of emerging technologies and ecosystem trends.
Requirements
- 5+ years of engineering leadership experience, including managing managers and leading orgs responsible for critical production infrastructure at a high-growth startup.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in distributed systems.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally and engage with the open-source community.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical decision-making, and ownership mindset.
- Hands-on understanding of large-scale distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
Nice-to-Haves / Preferred
- Strong background in Java, Kubernetes (K8s), AWS, multi-region, and multi-cloud.
- Experience balancing pragmatism and speed while maintaining long-term technical health.
