Director of Design

Role overview

Director of Design at InStride Health, reporting to the VP of Product, Technology. You’ll shape the company’s design vision across the product ecosystem, creating scalable design systems and guardrails so engineering can deliver consistent, safe, high-quality digital experiences that feel clinically warm and supportive.

Responsibilities

• Define a multi-year design roadmap that balances high-tech innovation with “clinical warmth” for families and teams
• Operationalize the design architecture with Engineering and Product leadership to enable engineering autonomy and consistent delivery
• Steward human-centered technology and AI strategy by setting interaction principles and emotional guidelines for automated touchpoints
• Establish and socialize design principles as the source of truth for UI decisions at scale
• Lead and elevate the design organization, mentoring designers to operate across technical/operational systems and human-centered design
• Champion evidence-based design by setting standards for user research and discovery using clinical insights, patient feedback, and quantitative data
• Own design operations, including headcount planning, tool-stack budgeting, and prioritization against the company roadmap
• Unify the experience ecosystem by partnering with Marketing and Growth to connect external brand identity with internal digital products
