Director of Business Development

Role Overview

Business Development Director (Remote, US-based) for a fintech/blockchain payments startup. You’ll be an individual contributor responsible for developing strategic relationships that result in network partnership agreements and bank integration commitments. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll help shape and launch the commercial team.

Responsibilities

• Own the sales cycle end-to-end: manage the sales pipeline from lead qualification through close
• Close high-value deals: negotiate and secure contracts with senior bank executives for partnership and adoption
• Build executive relationships: develop and maintain relationships with decision-makers and stakeholders at target financial institutions
• Act as product/market SME: communicate the value proposition effectively and provide feedback to product and engineering teams
• Forecast and reporting: deliver accurate sales forecasts and pipeline reporting

Required Qualifications

• Must be US-based; ability to travel up to 75% as needed
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent practical experience)
• 7+ years of successful, quota-carrying direct sales experience in financial services/fintech
• Proven experience selling directly to senior bank executives
• Solid knowledge of bank payments, ideally including understanding of the shift toward digital assets
• Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment
