About the role
Role Overview
The Director of Business Development (USA) generates new business for Cyclops by selling its payments infrastructure to payments companies such as PSPs, gateways, orchestrators, networks, and related entities. The role requires strong relationship-building, comfort with a long sales cycle, and the ability to both leverage an existing industry network and expand it.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a London-based Director of Business Development to define and execute the overall BD vision and strategy
- Own and run the full sales cycle from prospecting through closing
- Build and lead a high-performing BD team (hiring, mentoring, and performance management)
- Represent Cyclops at industry events, speaking engagements, and with external stakeholders
- Track and report BD metrics, pipeline health, and performance to the co-founders
Required Qualifications
- Experience working for or with payments companies (networks, PSPs, acquirers, gateways, orchestrators, or similar)
- Understanding of how crypto and stablecoins can be used by payments companies
- Ability to thrive in a startup and fast-paced environment
- Proven track record driving revenue growth and closing high-value deals
- Strong skills in negotiation, communication, and relationship building
- Willingness to be proactive (e.g., attending events, initiating conversations with new contacts)
Nice to Have
- Existing network in the payments industry and demonstrated ability to grow it over time
Reporting Line
- Reports directly to the co-founders and works alongside another BD Director in London.
