Director of Business Development

Role Overview

The Business Development Director, Preclinical at Discovery Life Sciences is responsible for developing and closing new and repeat business with customer and prospect accounts in an assigned territory across the U.S. (and globally). The role focuses on selling in vitro preclinical products and services and coordinating strategic customer meetings to win large-scale, high-revenue projects.

Responsibilities

• Prospect and source potential new pharma and biotech customers.
• Pitch and present Discovery Life Sciences preclinical research services and solutions.
• Communicate with potential clients via email and phone.
• Coordinate large, strategic meetings between customers’ senior scientific leadership and relevant Company leadership.
• Present and help evaluate client project workability with procurement feasibility, scientific leadership, and internal/external collaborators.
• Manage an opportunity pipeline (25–50+ open opportunities) and a feasibility case queue with updated next steps and customer feedback.
• Advance opportunities by setting clear next steps and executing them to win business.
• Use scientific acumen (not discounting) to close deals.
• Provide market intelligence back to the team through documented sales calls and client feedback.
• Partner with inside sales support, Global Account Managers, other Business Development Directors, Marketing, and Feasibility to maximize sales success.
• Generate client reports as needed.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations and maintain privacy of personal information.
