Role Overview

Director of Accounting (Remote)

• New leadership role created due to growth.
• Reports to the Controller and manages senior, manager, and staff accounting professionals.
• Oversees accounting for a multi-state enterprise with ~$200M revenue and increasing complexity.

Key Responsibilities

• Own financial reporting obligations and ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with U.S. GAAP.
• Lead technical accounting for VIEs (Variable Interest Entities), joint ventures, and complex ownership/consolidation structures, including proper consolidation and disclosures.
• Review staff-prepared journal entries and account reconciliations for quality, accuracy, and GAAP compliance.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team; foster accountability and collaboration.
• Provide accounting oversight for MSO-supported entities (onboarding, structure evaluation, and ongoing monitoring).
• Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Operations, and HR to align accounting practices with business objectives.
• Support due diligence and post-close integration for M&A activity.
• Design, implement, and improve accounting controls and processes to scale compliant financial operations.
• Lead the monthly close process and ensure deadlines and accurate, timely financial results.
• Drive special projects and initiatives aligned with departmental and organizational goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (regionally accredited).
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• CPA required.
• Strong MSO experience (preferred/required) with exposure to multi-site healthcare or service-oriented structures.
• Significant experience with VIEs and joint venture accounting and related reporting.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
• Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Advanced MS Office proficiency (Excel/Outlook/Word).
• Strong accounting/financial systems proficiency; ability to learn new tools.

Nice to Haves

• NetSuite experience.
• Experience in a PE-backed setting.

Location / Travel

• Remote role.
• Central or Eastern time zone preferred.
• Minimal travel: 0–10%.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $140,000–$160,000 plus bonus.
