About the role

Role Overview

Director, Mechanical Engineering at Echo Power—lead and scale the Mechanical Engineering function and oversee the design and execution of mechanical infrastructure solutions for healthcare facilities across the U.S.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Mechanical Engineers to build a collaborative, high-performing environment
  • Oversee multiple mechanical projects end-to-end (concept to completion), ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance
  • Own technical strategy and quality for complex HVAC and mechanical systems through designated technical leaders
  • Manage resources, delegate tasks, and set project priorities across the Mechanical Engineering team
  • Oversee the technical review process to ensure safety, quality, and engineering standards are met
  • Collaborate with Electrical Engineering, Project Management, and Construction teams
  • Interface with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) for plan approvals as needed
  • Support business development through client engagement and technical expertise

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 20+ years of progressive HVAC mechanical design/system studies experience (healthcare preferred)
  • 8+ years leading Mechanical Engineering teams (including remote/distributed teams)
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Strong knowledge of ASHRAE, MEP, and NFPA standards
  • Expertise in hydronic and refrigeration systems (HVAC, process cooling, boilers, heat exchangers)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and client-facing skills
  • Ability to travel ~25% to project sites across the U.S.

Location / Work Setup

  • Work-from-home with travel requirements.
  • Candidates should live within one hour of a commercial airport.
