Director, FP&A

Role Overview

Director, FP&A (Finance Business Partner / Builder role) at MediaKind. This is a PE-backed organization formed via a merger, where key financial planning and cost-tracking infrastructure is not yet fully standardized. In this role, you will build and own the combined operating model and provide finance leadership with a single view of performance vs. plan, including cash and covenant forecasting.

You will serve as the primary business partner to functional leaders, owning the cost side of the combined P&L and supporting integration cost tracking, investor reporting inputs, and procurement oversight.

Responsibilities

P&L Consolidation & Three-Statement Model

• Own the combined P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow model across both legacy entities (single version of truth)
• Produce monthly EBITDA-to-cash bridge, working capital analysis, and liquidity forecast
• Drive the close-to-report cycle for opex and headcount, coordinating with the Controller
• Own the opex and consolidation model architecture in the enterprise planning system (logic + outputs)

Annual Operating Plan (AOP) & Forecasting

• Lead the AOP process end-to-end (planning calendar, submissions, consolidation, ELT alignment, etc.)
• Run quarterly reforecasts coordinated with the revenue forecast
• Produce integrated management reporting packages for ELT and Board, moving toward streamlined/automated outputs using systems and AI tools
• Support long-range planning and scenario analysis

Functional Spend Partnering & Budget Variance Analysis

• Act as escalation point and strategic partner to functional leaders (analysts serve as primary Finance BPs)
• Deliver monthly holistic budget variance analysis with root-cause commentary
• Own and enforce the Finance Approval Gate: requisitions/POs require confirmed in-budget status from Finance
• Own the combined headcount plan by function, grade, and geography vs AOP
• Coordinate with HR on open requisition approvals and backfill decisions to ensure budget compliance

Integration Cost Tracking & Investor Reporting

• Build and maintain integration cost tracking and reconcile to reporting needs for investors/sponsors
• Support investor reporting tied to the combined financial performance narrative

Procurement Oversight

• Provide procurement operations oversight, including interaction with vendors and spend management
• Work with an indirect procurement manager to support spend governance and cost tracking accuracy

Requirements

• Experience owning or leading FP&A planning, including three-statement modeling and consolidated forecasting
• Demonstrated ability to build financial planning infrastructure and operating models in post-merger or integration contexts
• Strong partnership skills with functional leaders and ability to drive close-to-report processes
• Proficiency in finance systems/enterprise planning modeling and producing management reporting packages
• Experience with spend governance and enforcing budget/approval controls

Nice to Haves

• Experience with PE-backed environments and investor reporting/covenant forecasting
• Familiarity with enterprise planning systems and leveraging automation/AI in reporting
• Background in procurement/spend management oversight in a finance capacity
