Director, Engineering

Role Overview

Director of Engagement Platform Engineering at Sony (SEPS). You will lead development and activation of Sony’s Engagement Platform, shaping scalable engagement technologies used by hundreds of millions of fans across Sony’s entertainment ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Own platform engineering strategy for engagement ecosystem components such as storefronts, digital purchases, subscription services, and venues/events.
• Lead and mentor engineering teams, fostering an inclusive, collaborative culture focused on innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
• Drive delivery of cross-platform initiatives by guiding estimation, planning, and iterative value delivery.
• Manage roadmap execution: ensure initiatives stay focused, achievable, and value-driven.
• Partner with global stakeholders (business users, product managers, and cross-functional technical teams) across multiple Sony operating companies.
• Champion continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance team performance, processes, and outcomes.
• Operate with autonomy and ownership in a large, distributed environment to manage complexity and ambiguity.

Qualifications

• BS or Master’s in Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent experience); MS in CS preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in commerce, fintech, or digital platforms.
• At least 7 years in engineering leadership roles.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience delivering scalable engagement platforms and systems for personalization, payments, discovery/search, subscription management, and developer experience (implied by scope).
