About the role
Role Overview
The Director, Engineering provides strategic and operational leadership for software engineering, enterprise integrations, automation, and AI capabilities. You will build high-performing engineering teams and establish engineering standards that enable NAPA’s business strategy, partnering closely with technology and business leaders to drive innovation and digital transformation.
Primary Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the engineering roadmap aligned to business and technology priorities.
- Establish engineering standards, architecture principles, and modern development practices.
- Drive and operationalize an AI engineering strategy (AI/ML, generative AI, intelligent automation).
- Define and lead the enterprise integration strategy with secure, scalable, API-first capabilities across clinical, operational, and corporate platforms.
- Lead continuous improvement to increase delivery velocity, platform reliability, and business value.
Engineering Management
- Build, lead, and develop high-performing engineering managers and technical teams.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
- Manage organizational design, staffing, and resource planning.
Technology Delivery
- Deliver secure, scalable, reliable software, integrations, automation, and AI solutions.
- Partner with Product, Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, Data, and PMO to prioritize and execute strategic initiatives.
- Drive Agile/DevOps/SDLC adoption and engineering governance practices.
- Accelerate adoption of AI-enabled automation capabilities (including UIPath) with appropriate governance and compliance.
- Track engineering metrics to improve productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Operational Excellence & Compliance
- Establish engineering metrics, governance, and performance reporting.
- Manage engineering budgets, vendor relationships, and technology investments.
- Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements while improving platform reliability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Align technology investments with organizational priorities.
- Communicate engineering strategy, delivery progress, and business outcomes.
- Champion reusable platforms, APIs, automation, and AI capabilities across the enterprise.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive engineering experience.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing engineering managers and technical teams.
- Experience leading large-scale technology initiatives and complex engineering organizations.
- Proven success developing engineering strategy and delivering enterprise technology solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree (MBA, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline).

- $190K – $262K annually
