Role Overview

Director, Engineering — Listings and Evaluation at Zillow, leading engineering teams behind Zillow’s home listings experience and evaluation capabilities. The role is product-minded and focused on shaping the future of how customers understand, compare, and evaluate homes with confidence.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple engineering teams across web, iOS, Android, and backend systems supporting Zillow listings and evaluation.
• Set engineering strategy for experiences such as the For Sale Home Details Page.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, AI, and adjacent engineering teams to deliver high-impact customer experiences.
• Drive development of AI-powered shopping and evaluation features using Zillow’s listing data, media, personalization, and AI capabilities.
• Improve execution via clear goals, prioritization, operating rhythms, and measurable gains in quality, reliability, and delivery.
• Coach and grow engineering leaders (managers, senior engineers) and strengthen technical judgment and team health.
• Increase engineering effectiveness through improved planning, accountability, and team practices.
• Influence cross-organizational decisions, balancing near-term delivery with longer-term product and platform/architecture investments.

Requirements

• Experience leading multiple software engineering teams through managers, including growing both managers and senior engineers.
• Proven ability to improve engineering productivity, quality, and ways of working across teams/org.
• Track record delivering consumer-facing product experiences at scale while balancing customer impact, technical quality, reliability, and speed.
• Ability to translate broad business/product goals into clear engineering direction and aligned execution with cross-functional partners.
• Strong technical judgment across architecture, delivery tradeoffs, and system evolution.
• Interest in building AI-powered customer experiences and applying emerging capabilities practically.
• Strong communication skills with ability to tailor messaging to executives.
