About the role
Role Overview
As a Director, Engineering, you will lead end-to-end engineering delivery for large-scale, multi-client healthcare technology platforms. The role combines strategic technical leadership, product partnership, and organizational management, with a strong focus on modernization, scalability, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end engineering delivery across multiple clients, ensuring alignment to timelines, budgets, and quality.
- Drive modernization and technology transformation (scalability, automation, system efficiency).
- Partner with Product Management to shape roadmaps, prioritize features, and align execution to business objectives.
- Oversee technical architecture decisions, promoting reuse, configurability, and maintainability.
- Manage and develop distributed engineering teams (hiring, coaching, performance management, career development).
- Establish engineering best practices, Agile methodologies, and continuous improvement frameworks.
- Monitor and reduce technical debt; improve reliability, performance, and defect prevention.
- Maintain financial accountability (budgeting, forecasting, cost optimization).
- Collaborate with vendors and external partners for cost-effective, high-quality delivery.
- Work with executive stakeholders to support strategic decisions and successful program execution.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong technical and product-oriented leadership background.
- Proven experience managing large distributed teams with direct responsibilities for hiring, coaching, and performance management.
- Strong understanding of modern software development, architecture, and scalable system delivery.
- Deep experience with Agile and enterprise-level delivery frameworks.
- Ability to operate across multiple products/modules/client environments simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Preferred: experience in healthcare technology, public sector systems, or other regulated environments.
- Strong financial management skills (budget planning, forecasting, cost control).
- Demonstrated ability to drive organizational change and lead transformation.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
