About the role
Role Overview
Director, Business Development in the aerospace and defense sector, based in the United States. Lead strategic business development initiatives to drive growth through market intelligence, customer engagement, and capture execution.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute growth strategies by identifying opportunities, developing capture plans, and building relationships with defense customers and industry partners.
- Conduct market research and identify new opportunities with:
- Department of Defense agencies
- Prime contractors
- Resellers
- Platform partners
- Develop and execute campaign strategies and capture plans to support program awards.
- Own opportunity identification, qualification, and pursuit strategy from early engagement through capture.
- Establish, organize, and manage proposal efforts in collaboration with technical, engineering, and capture teams.
- Coordinate with international business units and other business development teams to align resources, strategies, and customer engagement.
- Provide campaign status updates (win strategies, schedules, funding profiles, opportunity assessments, probability of success).
- Build and maintain relationships with customers, government stakeholders, industry partners, and internal leadership.
- Support trade shows, conferences, and industry events to strengthen market presence and generate opportunities.
- Use CRM and relationship management practices to track opportunities and engagement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 10+ years of experience in aerospace systems marketing, defense acquisition, or related business development.
- Strong understanding of Department of Defense acquisition processes and contracting practices.
- Proven experience developing capture strategies and managing complex opportunities through proposal support.
- Strong customer relationship management skills across government, industry, and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment with distributed teams.
- Experience supporting technical, engineering, and capture teams during business development activities.
- Frequent travel required (including some international travel).
- Active U.S. Secret Clearance required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of airborne radar sensors, operating modes, and related technologies.
