Director, Brand Experience (United States)

Lead the visual design practice across digital products to ensure brand expression is cohesive, compelling, and consistently applied. Define and evolve the visual language, elevate design craft, and embed brand thinking early in product strategy while partnering closely across design and product teams.

Responsibilities

  • Shape and evolve product visual language across apps, websites, and other digital experiences to reflect brand personality consistently.
  • Lead and develop a small visual design team (identity, motion, and illustration) with creative direction, coaching, and feedback.
  • Create and operationalize visual standards, guidelines, and scalable systems integrated into design workflows, including AI-enabled tooling and shared design components.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Design Systems, Content Design, Brand Strategy, and Marketing to deliver cohesive brand experiences.
  • Influence product strategy by embedding brand/design thinking from early planning and execution stages.
  • Improve visual quality and UX while supporting faster product development timelines.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance within the design organization.

Requirements

  • Preferred degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field.
  • 10+ years experience in visual, brand, or digital design, including defining visual language for digital products.
  • 7+ years leadership experience, including 5+ years managing and developing design teams.
  • Strong expertise in visual design, motion, iconography, and illustration, with a portfolio showing leadership and craft.
  • Experience in technology/product-led environments, working closely with Product and Engineering.
  • Ability to translate vision into execution and build scalable standards and visual systems integrated into workflows/tools.
  • Excellent communication, storytelling, and stakeholder management.
  • Comfortable leading early-stage design decisions and proactively identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Experience mentoring and growing teams through education and skill development.
