About the role

Role Overview

Novant Health is seeking a Digital Technical Architect III (Enterprise Solutions) to help design and deliver cost-effective, scalable, and compliant technical solutions for both clinical and corporate systems. You will partner with end users, application teams, and solution architects, and serve as the single point of accountability for a defined technical domain.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Partnership & Strategy
- Evaluate business and technical requirements with end users, application teams, and solution architects.
- Translate complex technical concepts into actionable plans for non-technical stakeholders.
- Influence architecture decisions and technology direction across multiple teams.
Architecture & Solution Design
- Design and implement scalable, cost-effective solutions within a specialization area (e.g., infrastructure, applications, data, or cloud).
- Conduct cost-benefit and feasibility analyses to support prioritization and investment decisions.
- Ensure solutions meet performance, security, and compliance standards.
Ownership & Specialization
- Maintain deep expertise and provide guidance to project teams and leadership.
- Lead architectural reviews and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and reliability.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Build partnerships with clinical and corporate stakeholders for business-critical initiatives.
- Align business priorities with technical capabilities across departments.
- Facilitate cross-functional discussions to resolve competing priorities.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
Experience: 10+ years in a technical analyst or developer role
(For SRE track):
- Cloud Architect, SRE, Data Engineer, or DBA role (required)
- Public cloud expertise (Azure, GCP, AWS) (required)
(Preferred certifications):
- TOGAF-9, CITA-F, ITIL-F, COBIT-5, CISSP-ISSAP (or equivalent)
- For Azure-focused roles: Azure Data Fundamentals / Azure Data Engineer / Azure Administrator / Azure Solutions Architect Expert (or equivalent)
- For other public cloud roles: AWS or GCP Professional-level certifications (preferred)

Additional Skills

Expert ability to quickly understand the technical area you own
Expert knowledge of modern and emerging technologies supporting business capabilities
Strong understanding of IT design principles and enterprise IT frameworks (e.g., ISO, COBIT, ITIL)
Advanced diagramming skills (process, component, entity, logical, physical)
Strong requirements definition, evaluation, writing, speaking, presenting, problem-solving, and communication skills
