About the role
Role Overview
DevSecOps Engineer (Digital Services Technical Lead) — a technical, hands-on role focused on driving modern software practices through a DevSecOps methodology.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mature DevSecOps processes across software development, security, automation, testing, networking, databases, cloud operations, and tooling teams.
- Build and improve application development and CI/CD for progressive delivery.
- Establish and maintain release management, integration, and implementation practices.
- Support real-time monitoring, alerting, and incident diagnostics using observability tooling.
- Drive critical incident resolution with strong technical and communication leadership.
Required Skills / Qualifications
- 12+ years experience building/operating on AWS, including networking and IT Security tools, and working with databases and tooling.
- Hands-on expertise across DevSecOps, security, automation, application development, databases, and release management.
- Experience using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Strong understanding of Identity & Access Management (IAM) concepts (roles/permissions).
- AWS security/monitoring tooling experience including CloudWatch and OpenSearch.
- Security tooling experience such as Aqua and DLP.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes on AWS EKS, including Spring Boot-based container services.
- Experience with GitLab CI/CD (environments, feature flags, DORA Metrics aggregation).
- Observability/monitoring experience with Datadog.
- Coding proficiency in at least one language: Python, C/C++, Java, or Ruby.
- Strong analytical, business judgment, and ability to execute tactically and strategically.
Nice-to-Haves / Additional Skills Mentioned
- Experience with identity and access controls in complex environments.
- Experience with AWS workspace/session technologies (e.g., AWS WorkSpaces, Session Manager).
- Familiarity with networking/remote access tooling (e.g., SFTP/RDP, Citrix, PCoIP, DCV).
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a relevant field.
Contract Details
- Contract-to-hire position.
- Location: Herndon, VA.
- Pay range: $80.00–$89.00/hr.
