About the role

Role Overview

CommIT Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a Customer Support DevSecOps Engineer to join its team in Charleston, SC (the role also can be remote). This position combines hands-on DevSecOps engineering with customer support, audit readiness, and operational troubleshooting. You will collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and cybersecurity teams to deploy, secure, and sustain enterprise applications and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with engineering teams to improve tools, systems, pipelines, and security posture
Provide customer-facing support for troubleshooting, incident response, and operational issues
Perform Linux server administration and system hardening
Support network components including F5 BigIP, VPNs, firewalls, and core protocols/services (TCP/IP, DNS, SFTP)
Manage and optimize AWS infrastructure (EC2, VPC, Lambda, S3, EFS, ECR/ECS, Route53, IAM, RDS, Auto Scaling, CloudTrail, CloudWatch)
Build, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Git, Artifactory, Xray, Jira, SonarQube
Write, debug, and maintain code across compiled and scripted languages
Implement and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform
Automate operational tasks using scripting and DevOps tooling
Conduct security, performance, and availability system testing
Create and maintain documentation for design, troubleshooting, and audit readiness
Implement security controls aligned with DoD, NIST, and industry best practices
Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation
Provide audit support, including generating artifacts/evidence and compliance documentation
Serve as an SME for Appian or MarkLogic, supporting deployments, troubleshooting, and customer inquiries

Requirements

Master’s degree + 6 years experience, or Bachelor’s + 8 years experience in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Software/Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related IT discipline
Degree can be substituted with additional relevant experience and/or accepted training/certifications
Responsible for developing DevSecOps and CI/CD architecture for systems or subsystems
Ability to select tools/technologies/methods supporting automated build, deploy, operation, and monitoring
Coordinates cross-functionally to remove impediments and accelerate CI/CD capability delivery
Ultimately responsible for DevSecOps architecture for the subsystem

Preferred Skills

Appian or MarkLogic SME experience
Experience supporting DoD or federal enterprise systems
Familiarity with audit frameworks such as RMF, NIST 800-53, CMMC
Strong customer service and communication skills
Experience with automated testing, containerization, or Zero Trust architecture
