DevSecOps Engineer

Role: DevSecOps Engineer

Join CommIT Enterprises, Inc. in Charleston, SC (also open to remote). You will collaborate with software engineers to deploy and operate systems, automate operations, and ensure security across infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Build, enhance, and maintain DevSecOps pipelines and automation for CI/CD and security
• Use AWS services to support deployment and operations
• Develop, update, and govern Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for consistent provisioning
• Build, secure, and operate containerized applications with Docker, ECS, and EKS
• Automate operational tasks and security workflows using Python, Bash, or similar scripting
• Conduct monitoring, performance checks, and security compliance assessments
• Troubleshoot incidents, analyze logs, and perform root-cause investigations
• Implement security controls and hardening standards; maintain technical documentation
• Serve as a Firewall SME:
  • Advise on, design, and implement firewall policies and integrations aligned to DevSecOps workflows
  • Support automated deployment pipelines, network segmentation, and continuous monitoring
  • Tune firewall rules/policies and manage change/integration and incident response
  • Monitor firewall logs/alerts and perform vulnerability remediation
  • Collaborate with network/security teams to integrate firewall capabilities into subsystem architecture

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related IT discipline)
• Master’s degree + 6 years experience (or Bachelor’s + 8 years experience) in a related field
• Experience developing DevSecOps and CI/CD architecture for systems or subsystems
• Ability to select tools/technologies/methodologies that enable automated build, deployment, operations, security, and monitoring
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to remove impediments to CI/CD and improve delivery quality/reliability

Nice-to-haves (implied from responsibilities)

• Strong AWS knowledge across networking, compute, storage, containers, and monitoring
• Firewall policy design/tuning with integration into CI/CD and secure segmentation
• Strong scripting and operational automation skills
