About the role
Role Overview
As a DevSecOps Engineer at Agile Defense, you will join a specialized Agile Pod to build and sustain a secure, automated software delivery “factory.” The role focuses on an end-to-end toolchain (CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and Cloud Development Environments) designed for ATO-required, mission-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Secure platform implementation
- Deploy/configure enterprise CI/CD and automated infrastructure tools across on-prem, private cloud, and air-gapped environments.
- Implement hardened installations including SSO/IAM, RBAC, and segregation of duties.
- Manage secrets and encryption using enterprise tooling such as HashiCorp Vault, HSM, or KMS.
- Automated infrastructure & governance
- Use automated/low-code approaches to produce production-ready IaC using Terraform or OpenTofu.
- Build standardized pipeline foundations including “Golden Templates” and policy guardrails for security approvals and mission compliance.
- Orchestrate secure, scalable developer workspaces (CDEs) for consistent environments (for humans and AI coding agents).
- Compliance, ATO & sustainment
- Convert configurations into NIST 800-53 / FedRAMP evidence (diagrams, control mappings, baselines).
- Provide post-implementation sustainment: patching, upgrades, and audit log/telemetry health checks.
- Troubleshoot end-to-end SDLC toolchain integration issues (e.g., code scanning to deployment verification).
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years in DevSecOps, SRE, or Cloud Engineering
- Secret clearance eligible (must be able to obtain/maintain)
- Experience in restricted/air-gapped/regulated environments (e.g., GovCloud, FedRAMP, RMF-governed)
- Strong Terraform or OpenTofu proficiency
- Hands-on Kubernetes (networking, storage, security policies)
- Strong networking fundamentals: TLS, network proxies, and audit-friendly telemetry
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with enterprise CI/CD orchestration platforms
- Experience with Cloud Development Environments (CDEs) / remote workspace orchestration
- Experience generating documentation for RMF
