About the role
Role Overview
DevOps / Security Engineer responsible for building and maintaining cloud infrastructure and security operations. You will work at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, CI/CD automation, and security compliance to ensure the company’s TypeScript platform is continuously deployed, monitored, and hardened to IL4/IL5 standards.
Responsibilities
- Build, manage, and optimize cloud infrastructure on AWS GovCloud (preferred) or Azure Government to meet IL4/IL5 hosting requirements.
- Own CI/CD end-to-end (from code commit through production deployment) using GitHub Actions, including security gates at each stage.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK for repeatable and auditable provisioning.
- Manage containerized deployments with Docker, including image scanning, signing, and registry controls.
- Design and maintain staging/testing/production environments with appropriate network isolation.
Required Qualifications
- Active U.S. Secret clearance or ability to obtain; U.S. citizenship required.
- 3+ years in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or security engineering.
- Hands-on experience with AWS (GovCloud preferred) or Azure Government.
- Strong proficiency with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Working knowledge of DISA STIGs, NIST SP 800-53, and the RMF process.
- Experience with PostgreSQL administration, backup, and hardening in production.
- Familiarity with Linux administration and network security fundamentals.
- Comfortable working in a TypeScript/Node.js application environment.
Nice-to-Have / Helpful (from stack)
- Experience supporting Next.js/React frontends and TypeScript backend services.
- Familiarity with automated testing for Dev/QA workflows (unit/integration and E2E).
