DevOps / Platform Engineer

Role Overview

You will be the first infrastructure hire and own the platform foundation for StockIQ’s next phase of growth. This includes cloud infrastructure, secrets management, service orchestration, observability, and CI/CD pipelines—working closely with the engineering team to meet high infrastructure standards and support robust deployments.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and operate the HashiCorp stack:
  • Nomad (orchestration)
  • Consul (service discovery and service mesh)
  • Vault (secrets management and dynamic credentials)
• Database infrastructure:
  • Deploy and tune TimescaleDB on EC2 with HA failover
  • Configure PgBouncer for connection pooling with load balancing and Consul-Template-driven configuration
  • Maintain and monitor MS-SQL Server database servers
• CI/CD and deployments:
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with automated database migration steps and Nomad job deployments
  • Establish GitOps standards repo and spec templates for Nomad job definitions, including Vault integration, Consul registration, OpenTelemetry config, and environment parameterization
• Observability stack:
  • Deploy and operate Grafana observability with Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, and Grafana Alloy (as Nomad system job)
  • Configure alerting and on-call routing via Alertmanager to PagerDuty and Microsoft Teams
• Identity and internal tooling:
  • Manage Microsoft Active Directory integration and Exchange Online/Microsoft 365 for internal identity and email infrastructure
• Hybrid/on-prem support:
  • Support on-premises connector deployments, including per-client scoped credential provisioning, distribution, and updates

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years in DevOps, platform engineering, or infrastructure engineering
• Production experience with Nomad, Consul, and Vault
• Strong Terraform skills (modular, production-grade IaC)
• Containerization experience with Docker
• AWS and Azure hands-on provisioning and operations
• CI/CD pipeline architecture and management
• Database operations experience with PostgreSQL/TimescaleDB (replication, PgBouncer, backup and recovery)
• Active Directory administration and Exchange Online/M365 experience
• Observability stack configuration/dashboard authoring with Prometheus/Loki/Tempo (or equivalent)
• Comfortable operating in mixed Windows/Linux environments
• Ability to write Python scripts and/or shell scripts
• Experience with Git/GitHub and supporting tooling
• Able to operate as the sole infrastructure engineer on a small, fast-moving team

• Experience with Octopus Deploy and GitHub Actions
• OpenTelemetry instrumentation and Grafana Alloy pipeline configuration
• Consul-Template for dynamic config generation
• Experience supporting hybrid environments (cloud services + on-prem deployments)
• Familiarity with Ansible or similar tools
• Prior experience with Cloud FinOps to optimize cloud spend
