About the role
Role Overview
DevOps Engineer on the Zoom Phone and Zoom Contact Center DevOps team within the Engineering Operations Group. You will help design and operate resilient VoIP infrastructure and services, owning reliability across architecture, CI/CD, and containerized environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, high-availability VoIP infrastructure and services on cloud or colocation platforms
- Build, operate, and optimize Kubernetes (K8s) clusters for containerized applications and microservices
- Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) to automate build, test, and deployment workflows
- Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible for provisioning and configuration management
- Troubleshoot complex issues across VoIP systems including SBC and FreeSWITCH components
- Manage and improve production monitoring, alerting, and fault analysis for rapid incident response
- Collaborate with development, operations, and product to deliver reliable, high-quality services
- Continuously evaluate and adopt new DevOps tools and cloud-native solutions to improve automation and scalability
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
- Experience designing and managing AWS infrastructure (e.g., EC2, VPC, EKS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch)
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI)
- Experience with IaC frameworks (Terraform or Ansible)
- Expertise with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Expertise in Linux systems administration and network configuration
- Knowledge of cloud platforms including AWS, OCI, and GCP
- Strong networking and security fundamentals for real-time communications (SIP, RTP, NAT traversal, load balancing, firewalls, encryption)
- Hands-on monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog)
- Occasional weekend work may be required; ability to work across multiple time zones
