About the role

Role Overview

Vannevar is seeking a DevOps Engineer to own build and deployment automation for Vannevar Labs. The role emphasizes simple, scalable systems and the ability to communicate trade-offs while preparing platforms to operate in both commercial and high-side environments at scale.

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and own platform health, including scaling and planning.
Build self-service tools and automate workflows to improve data engineering efficiency.
Create logging and monitoring tools to visualize platform state and strengthen SRE practices.
Help implement a secure, robust, high-availability DevOps pipeline.
Collaborate on building out a multi-account AWS environment.
Automate build and deployment processes.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in DevOps and/or software engineering.
Experience designing CI/CD processes and automation.
Deep AWS cloud knowledge.
Experience with enterprise monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog) and/or a PLG stack.
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform and/or Pulumi).
Proficiency with containerization (e.g., Docker).
Strong scripting/programming skills with Python, Bash, or similar.
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment and working independently.
Ability to quickly learn new technologies; strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
U.S. citizenship required (access to U.S.-only and export-controlled systems).

Nice to Haves

Experience with AWS GovCloud.
Experience with DoD and/or Intelligence Community (IC) data processing.
Experience building CI/CD in GitHub Actions.
Passion for DevSecOps.
Experience with Elasticsearch/OpenSearch.
Experience hardening and delivering software applications.
Knowledge of modern web services architectures.
Experience with SQL and relational database design.
Networking knowledge (overlays, VPNs, zero trust).
Strong collaboration/negotiation skills across functional engineering partners.
