DevOps Engineer

Role overview

Trella Health is hiring a DevOps Engineer to help manage and improve its AWS cloud infrastructure as the company scales. The position focuses on CI/CD pipeline maturity plus improving reliability, security, and observability across production systems.

Responsibilities

• CI/CD & Release Engineering
  • Design, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines for reliable, repeatable builds and deployments.
  • Increase pipeline maturity by resolving bottlenecks, reducing build times, and improving deployment frequency and reliability.
• Cloud Infrastructure & Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Manage and evolve AWS infrastructure using Terraform.
  • Work across services including EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
  • Support multi-region architecture considerations for redundancy and availability.
• Containers & Orchestration
  • Operate and support containerized workloads on Amazon ECS and EKS/Kubernetes.
  • Build/maintain Docker images and manage container registries with security/performance standards.
  • Help teams containerize applications and migrate workloads from server-based to container-based deployments.
• Monitoring, Observability & Incident Response
  • Maintain observability tooling using New Relic, Grafana, and AWS CloudWatch (dashboards, alerts, and log aggregation).
  • Identify observability gaps and improve instrumentation with engineering teams.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and incident response (diagnose, remediate, document).
• Security & Compliance (HIPAA/SOC 2)
  • Maintain secure configurations, access controls, audit logging, and evidence collection to support HIPAA and SOC 2.
  • Partner with the security team on vulnerability/security operations.
• Collaboration
  • Work cross-functionally with development, data engineering, and integration teams.
  • Support disaster recovery planning and release engineering.
  • Continue reducing managed server count via serverless and container-based architectures.

Requirements

• Strong DevOps experience managing AWS infrastructure and improving operational reliability.
• Experience supporting CI/CD pipeline operations and release engineering.
• Hands-on with Terraform-managed infrastructure.
• Ability to operate containerized workloads on ECS and EKS/Kubernetes.
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools including New Relic, Grafana, and CloudWatch.
• On-call/incident response participation.
• Familiarity with security/compliance needs such as HIPAA and SOC 2 (or ability to support them).

Nice-to-haves (implied by tooling mentioned)

• Experience with TeamCity build pipelines.
• Container image and registry management practices (security/performance standards).
• Disaster recovery planning experience.
