About the role

Role: DevOps Engineer

Location: Remote / NYC (East Coast) Reports to: SVP, Engineering

Overview

Own end-to-end DevOps initiatives with minimal handholding. You will modernize and scale TelmarHelixa’s digital infrastructure, working closely with Engineering, Security, IT Product Management, and QA to deliver secure, reliable, and cost-efficient systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead DevOps tasks end-to-end (design through delivery) with strong ownership.
  • Optimize, deploy, and manage containerized workloads using Kubernetes on AWS (EKS).
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and CloudFormation.
  • Improve and support Git-based CI/CD pipelines for builds, tests, deployments, and rollbacks.
  • Partner with Security to identify/remediate vulnerabilities, enforce least-privilege, and support compliance.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and application issues in distributed systems.
  • Establish and evolve monitoring, alerting, and logging for 24x7x365 system visibility.
  • Contribute to the technical roadmap to improve scalability, resilience, and cost efficiency.
  • Mentor junior team members and promote an ownership culture.
  • Act as a key escalation point for outages and critical system events.

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years experience in DevOps, Infrastructure, or SRE in cloud-native environments.
  • Deep hands-on AWS expertise (e.g., EC2, Elasticsearch, S3, IAM, Bedrock, EKS).
  • Strong experience with Kubernetes and Git-based CI/CD workflows.
  • Proficiency with Terraform (Infrastructure as Code).
  • Strong scripting/programming skills: Python and/or Bash.
  • Knowledge of high-availability architectures: load balancing, failover, and security best practices.
  • Ability to own initiatives and deliver with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, IT product, QA, and security.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience building monitoring/logging and incident response for always-on (24x7x365) platforms.
  • Experience working directly with security/compliance requirements for cloud infrastructure.
