About the role

Role Overview

Tactacam is hiring a DevOps Engineer to help build and maintain its data infrastructure and ensure the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of its AWS + Lambda stack. You’ll drive continuous improvement by strengthening monitoring/observability and reducing firefighting through better infrastructure and automation.

Responsibilities

Maintain a strong security posture for both new and existing infrastructure (infrastructure + logging expertise)
Design, implement, and maintain robust AWS infrastructure for Tactacam services and applications
Drive DevOps best practices across multiple software teams using shift-left and self-service approaches
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (backend, frontend, hardware, BI, ERP) to streamline developer and DevOps workflows
Refine monitoring and monitoring-adjacent tooling to triage issues, estimate impact, find root cause, and resolve efficiently
Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to automate deployments and ensure code quality
Help manage the fleet of end-user devices using internal and vendor tooling
Improve AWS governance by identifying unmanaged resources (“ghost resources”) and adding IaC and monitoring
Monitor and manage cloud costs
Stay current with industry trends and recommend improvements to DevOps practices

Requirements

Proven experience managing AWS services and infrastructure
Experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions (or AWS CodePipeline/other tools)
Proficiency in scripting/automation for infrastructure as code, including JavaScript, bash/shell, and/or Python
Familiarity with serverless and event-driven architectures, especially AWS Lambda
Strong problem-solving and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Excellent communication skills across cross-functional teams
Strong motivation to drive change and influence improvements across internal processes

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting user-facing applications at scale (over 1M users)
AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer)
AWS CDK
Monitoring tools such as Datadog
Search technologies: Elasticsearch/OpenSearch
Kubernetes
Experience testing/deploying device firmware and/or device build pipelines (incl. iOS/Android)
Familiarity with traditional QA workflows
