DevOps Engineer, Sr.

Role Overview

Sr. DevOps Engineer supporting Optum Financial business domains. You will design, implement, and maintain secure, cloud-based payment capabilities and operate as an “AI User” to optimize workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and improve productivity. The role is available as remote work nationwide in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain Azure + Kubernetes cloud infrastructure for scalable and secure operations.
• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC), primarily using Terraform, for reliable and repeatable deployments.
• Build and sustain automation for release/deployment/upgrade activities across environments (pipelines and processes).
• Implement and oversee observability, including automated deployment of monitoring dashboards and alerting (e.g., via Terraform, Datadog).
• Collaborate with development, security, and operations to ensure infrastructure and applications meet security, compliance, and governance standards.
• Monitor and optimize cloud costs while maintaining performance and reliability.
• Act as a bridge between development and operations to streamline workflows and accelerate delivery.
• Support continuous delivery and stable, scalable environments aligned with Agile practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or cloud infrastructure roles; practical expertise in Azure (or similar cloud platforms).
• 3+ years with Terraform (or equivalent IaC such as Pulumi or CloudFormation).
• 3+ years managing Kubernetes (deployment, scaling, cluster operations).
• 3+ years building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, preferably with GitHub Actions.
• 1+ year deploying/managing observability systems such as Datadog or OpenTelemetry.
• 1+ year automating monitoring/alerts/telemetry dashboard and integrations via IaC.
• Strong communication and collaboration across engineering, operations, and security teams.
