DevOps Engineer

Role: Junior DevOps Engineer

You’ll work closely with the DevOps lead to build and operate the foundational infrastructure for SiliconData’s GPU/AI intelligence platforms, spanning infrastructure as code, CI/CD, cloud operations, automation, and security hygiene.

Responsibilities

• Terraform (AWS Infrastructure as Code): Write, review, and refactor Terraform modules to manage AWS infrastructure across environments.
• CI/CD: Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions (build, test, deployment workflows).
• AWS Operations: Help provision, monitor, and operate services in AWS, including ECS/Fargate, S3, Lambda, IAM, VPC, and CloudWatch.
• Automation & Tooling: Build automation to reduce manual toil (scripting operational tasks, internal tooling, and improving developer experience).
• Security Hygiene: Support IAM policy reviews, secret rotation, dependency vulnerability scanning, log auditing, and follow up on findings.
• Incident Support: Triage and respond to infrastructure alerts and incidents under guidance of senior engineers.
• Documentation: Document infrastructure, runbooks, and processes to share operational knowledge.
• Collaborate & Learn: Participate in code reviews and learn production engineering practices alongside senior engineers.

Requirements

• Hands-on exposure to Terraform, AWS, and GitHub Actions (via coursework, personal projects, internships, or prior work).
• Working knowledge of Linux fundamentals and the command line.
• Comfort with at least one scripting language: Python, Bash, or similar.
• Genuine interest in infrastructure, automation, and security, including the ability to explain why.
• Self-starter mindset: dig into documentation, experiment, and propose options when requirements are ambiguous.
• Strong written communication and willingness to document work.
• Ability to work effectively in an async remote environment.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with Docker and containerized deployments.
• Exposure to observability/monitoring tools: CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus.
• Awareness of cloud security concepts: least privilege, IAM best practices, secrets management.
• Experience with incident response, on-call rotations, or production systems.
• Familiarity with GitOps patterns or infrastructure testing tools (e.g., Terratest, tflint, Checkov).
• GitHub profile and/or open-source contributions.
