About the role

Role Overview

SES is hiring a DevOps Engineer to support the U.S. Air Force Cloud One Architecture and Common Shared Services contract. This remote role supports a critical mission focused on resiliency, security, and cost effectiveness in a multi-cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP/Oracle) environment.

Responsibilities

Modernize and operate a global-scale multi-cloud infrastructure supporting USAF system resiliency and security
Manage, troubleshoot, and maintain cloud-based infrastructure
Create and deploy Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), including modules and environment separation
Diagnose issues across infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and applications
Perform operational support for production systems, including deployment troubleshooting
Support backup and recovery and apply disaster recovery best practices
Apply security hardening aligned with STIG or similar baselines
Provide basic administration support for ServiceNow environments

Requirements

Strong AWS Infrastructure Fundamentals (EC2, EBS, VPC, IAM, S3)
Networking concepts (subnets, security groups, routing)
Terraform: writing/modifying/deploying configs; understanding state management, modules, and environment separation
Ability to troubleshoot failed deployments and configuration issues
Git-based source control (GitLab preferred) and proficiency with Git workflows (branching/merging/version control)
CI/CD pipelines experience (build/test/deploy) and troubleshooting pipeline failures
Familiarity with automating infrastructure deployments
Linux/system administration basics (file systems, services, permissions) and troubleshooting server/performance issues
Security hardening experience and familiarity with STIGs
Backup/recovery experience (verify backups; perform restores) and awareness of disaster recovery
Basic familiarity with ServiceNow platform structure/environments and supporting administrative tasks

Required Clearance / Eligibility

Interim Secret clearance required to start; ability to obtain Secret clearance to maintain employment
U.S. citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with USAF Cloud One (or Platform 1)
ITIL certification
