About the role
Role Overview
SES is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support the U.S. Air Force Cloud One Architecture and Common Shared Services contract. This is a remote position focused on modernizing and operating a global-scale multi-cloud environment across AWS, Azure, GCP, and Oracle Cloud.
Responsibilities
- Manage, troubleshoot, and maintain cloud-based infrastructure
- Develop and deploy Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Diagnose and resolve issues across infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and applications
- Support production operations and ensure reliable deployments
- Apply security hardening practices and support STIG compliance
- Perform and validate backup/restore operations; support disaster recovery concepts
- Provide basic administrative support for ServiceNow environments
Required Skills & Qualifications
- AWS infrastructure fundamentals with core services including EC2, EBS, VPC, IAM, and S3
- Networking knowledge: subnets, security groups, routing
- Terraform experience: writing/modifying/deploying configurations
- Knowledge of state management, modules, and environment separation
- Ability to troubleshoot failed deployments and configuration issues
- Git source control with GitLab preferred (branching, merging, version control)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (build/test/deploy) and troubleshooting pipeline failures
- Basic Linux/server system administration (file systems, services, permissions, performance, troubleshooting)
- Familiarity with security hardening/STIGs and validating secure configurations
- Backup and recovery understanding (verify backups, perform restores) and awareness of disaster recovery
- Basic ServiceNow administration familiarity (platform structure, environments, operational support)
- Security clearance & citizenship: Interim Secret clearance required to start; Secret required to maintain employment; U.S. citizenship required
Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s + 8+ years experience, or Master’s + 6+ years experience (additional experience may substitute for degree)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with USAF Cloud One or Platform 1
- ITIL Certification
