DevOps Engineer - Remote

Role Overview

DevOps Engineer (Remote) You will support and enhance a complex multi-tenant web application environment primarily hosted in a VMware-based data center, with increasing Azure cloud integrations.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support multi-tenant production, staging, and development environments to ensure high availability and performance.
• Maintain Linux infrastructure supporting Apache Tomcat application servers and DB2 databases.
• Manage and optimize VMware virtual infrastructure in the corporate data center.
• Support Azure integrations, IaaS scripting (Infrastructure as Code), and hybrid-cloud connectivity.
• Enhance CI/CD pipeline infrastructure and automation tooling to streamline deployments.
• Monitor performance, availability, capacity, and security; implement reliability and operational improvements.
• Manage backup and disaster recovery processes, including restore testing.
• Proactively troubleshoot infrastructure, application, database, and network issues.
• Implement and maintain infrastructure automation and operational scripting for reliability.
• Maintain configuration consistency across platforms and support middleware/services.
• Collaborate with software engineering, DB administration, security, and infrastructure teams.
• Create/update operational documentation, runbooks, and system diagrams.
• Participate in after-hours support and incident response.
• Support capacity planning and scaling for high availability.

Requirements

• 5+ years in DevOps, Systems Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering.
• Proven Linux systems administration experience.
• Production experience administering Apache Tomcat.
• Hands-on support experience with DB2.
• Experience administering VMware and Hyper-V infrastructure in enterprise data centers.
• Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Familiarity with Azure and hybrid-cloud integrations.
• Experience supporting CI/CD tooling and automation frameworks.
• Proficiency in scripting: Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar.
• Strong networking fundamentals: firewalls, load balancers, DNS, SSL/TLS.
• Experience with monitoring/logging and troubleshooting complex issues.

Nice-to-Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT or equivalent practical experience.
