DevOps Engineer – Release & Deployment (m/w/d)

Role Overview

DevOps Engineer focused on Release & Deployment for GRAYOAK’s AppFactory. You will design and operate CI/CD pipelines and release architectures that adapt to different customer environments, acting as a technical point of contact for development and product teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate CI/CD pipelines for fast, stable, and repeatable software releases (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
• Automate build, test, and deployment processes and continuously improve release quality and speed
• Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code for Azure environments (e.g., Terraform, Bicep), and drive Shift-Left practices
• Collaborate closely with development, testing, and operations teams and help establish DevOps best practices
• Execute modern deployment strategies: Blue/Green, Canary, Rolling
• Analyze incidents in the release process, identify weaknesses, and develop sustainable fixes with the team
• Advise customers on appropriate release & deployment architectures and map requirements to GRAYOAK’s solution portfolio
• Take an active architecture role in customer projects (from requirements analysis to technical implementation)
• Provide technical support internally and externally for release/deployment topics

Requirements

• Degree in (Business) Informatics or equivalent qualification/experience
• Multi-year experience in Release Engineering, DevOps, or CI/CD Engineering (ideally in consulting or product environments)
• Solid understanding of Git (branching/tagging strategies)
• Experience with CI/CD tooling: Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions (or comparable)
• Knowledge of release promotion flows (Development → Test → Pre-Production → Production) and hotfix/release strategies
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code: Terraform and/or Bicep/ARM
• Kubernetes deployment/rollback, artifact management, and container image versioning (e.g., Docker, AKS)
• Familiarity with architectures (monolith, monorepo, multi-tier, microservices)
• Cloud architecture knowledge, preferably Microsoft Azure
• Independent, solution-oriented, hands-on working style with high quality standards
• German and English proficiency (spoken and written)

Nice to Have

• Helm chart versioning and GitOps workflows (e.g., Argo CD, Flux)
• Experience with agile environments (Scrum, SAFe)
• Monitoring & observability experience
