About the role
Role Overview
The DevOps Engineer will support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Loan Guaranty Service (LGY). You will automate, maintain, and ensure the reliability and security of development and deployment pipelines while keeping environments stable and compliant with VA OIT standards.
Key Functions
- Maintain and support CI/CD pipelines across development, test, and production environments
- Monitor pipeline health and troubleshoot deployment failures
- Apply DevOps best practices to improve pipeline efficiency and reliability
- Collaborate with development, operations, and release management teams to support CI/CD
- Help ensure applications are deployment-ready
- Perform environment troubleshooting and deployment diagnostics
- Document DevOps processes, pipeline configurations, and operational procedures
- Drive continuous improvement of deployment automation and infrastructure reliability
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 4+ years of DevOps or infrastructure automation experience
- CI/CD experience with tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or similar
- Experience managing build and deployment pipelines
- Strong understanding of Git/version control
- Experience working in cloud environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting federal government IT programs or VA systems
- Familiarity with AWS cloud services
- Experience with Salesforce deployments and release management
- Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- ServiceNow or Jira for change management
- Knowledge of ITIL service management practices
Position Details
- Full-time (W2)
- 100% remote (US-based)
- 40 hours/week; availability 8am–5pm ET
- Start date: ASAP
- Eligibility: Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance
- Salary: $80,000–$120,000
