About the role
Role Overview
DevOps Engineer supporting the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Loan Guaranty Service (LGY). You will maintain and improve automation, reliability, and compliance of development and deployment pipelines while ensuring stable and secure environments aligned with VA OIT standards.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and support CI/CD pipelines for deployments across development, test, and production environments
- Monitor pipeline health and troubleshoot deployment failures
- Apply DevOps best practices to improve pipeline efficiency and reliability
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure applications are deployment-ready
- Assist with environment troubleshooting and deployment diagnostics
- Document DevOps processes, pipeline configurations, and operational procedures
- Drive continuous improvement of deployment automation and infrastructure reliability
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT (or equivalent experience)
- 4+ years of DevOps or infrastructure automation experience
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or similar
- Experience managing build and deployment pipelines
- Strong understanding of Git and version control
- Experience working in cloud environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with federal government IT programs or VA systems
- Familiarity with AWS
- Experience with Salesforce deployments and release management
- Infrastructure-as-Code knowledge (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Change management tools: ServiceNow or Jira
- Knowledge of ITIL service management practices
Position Details
- Employment type: Full-Time (W2)
- Location: 100% Remote (US-based)
- Hours: 40 hours/week; availability during 8am–5pm ET
- Start date: ASAP
- Eligibility: Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance
