DevOps Engineer — OrgByte (Abuja, Nigeria | Remote Considered)

Role overview

OrgByte is looking for a proactive DevOps Engineer to take full end-to-end ownership of its server infrastructure and deployment operations. This is not a ticket-and-fix role—you will build, secure, monitor, and continuously improve the infrastructure backbone that keeps the ecosystem running.

Responsibilities (what you will own)

• Manage Linux VPS environments across staging and production
• Containerize and deploy across 10+ microservices
• Own CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, including rollback support
• Set up and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging (uptime, CPU/memory, errors)
• Perform server hardening: firewall configuration, SSL management, and secrets handling
• Handle disk/resource/capacity management and proactively prevent issues
• Implement backup systems and disaster recovery procedures
• Maintain internal tooling, runbooks, and infrastructure documentation
• Support buildout of OrgByte’s private cloud infrastructure over time
• Help scale operations as microservices grow across marketplace, identity, verification, and platform infrastructure

Requirements

Must-have

• Strong Linux server administration (Ubuntu/Debian)
• Hands-on Docker and container management
• CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions
• Reverse proxy configuration (Nginx or similar)
• Firewall/SSH hardening and SSL certificate management (Let’s Encrypt)
• Experience with self-hosted PaaS tools (e.g., Coolify, Dokku, or similar)
• Monitoring and alerting (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, Uptime Kuma, or equivalent)
• Log management and disk health monitoring
• Bash scripting and basic automation

Nice-to-have

• Kubernetes or orchestration beyond single-server Docker
• Database administration (PostgreSQL or MySQL)
• Experience setting up private cloud / on-premise infrastructure
• Security auditing and CVE patching experience
• Python scripting
