DevOps Engineer

Role Overview

DevOps Engineer joining a greenfield effort to design and shape how software is built and deployed at Foresight Dx. You’ll build CI/CD and automation foundations that support both engineering teams and bioinformatics scientists in a regulated, compliance-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and build CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to automate build, testing, and deployment across dev and production.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code with Terraform for repeatable, version-controlled, and auditable deployments.
• Automate deployments and configuration for applications, bioinformatics pipelines, and supporting services across GCP and AWS.
• Write and maintain automation scripts in Python and Shell/Bash to reduce manual operations and improve reliability.
• Manage containerized workloads with Docker and Kubernetes, including Google Cloud Run and AWS container services.
• Establish and maintain monitoring and logging for pipeline and application health.
• Implement CI/CD and cloud security controls (e.g., secrets management, access controls, vulnerability scanning) with a regulated-environment mindset.
• Perform configuration management for application environments and bioinformatics workstations.
• Create documentation, including deployment process docs, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides to meet compliance needs.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce deployment friction and improve build/developer productivity.
• Mentor teams with DevOps best practices and cloud-native patterns.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or software engineering with strong automation focus.
• Proven CI/CD pipeline experience; GitHub Actions strongly preferred (GitLab CI or Jenkins acceptable).
• Strong hands-on experience with GCP and AWS, including production workloads.
• Proficiency with Terraform.
• Solid containerization/orchestration experience: Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong scripting skills in Python and Shell/Bash (comfortable building automation from scratch).
• Experience with configuration management tools: Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle, Git workflows/branching strategies.
• Experience applying security best practices to CI/CD and cloud environments.
• Strong written communication and ability to produce clear, useful process documentation.

Nice to Haves

• Experience in regulated industries (FDA, clinical diagnostics, healthcare) and/or validation/compliance documentation.
• Background in software development/engineering and understanding of application architecture.
• Familiarity with bioinformatics workflows / NGS pipelines / computational biology environments.
