DevOps Engineer

Role Overview

Join Mojio as a DevOps Engineer in a hands-on role. You will manage Mojio’s AWS infrastructure, operate and troubleshoot a Kubernetes-based platform, and own day-to-day security operations.

Key Missions

• AWS Infrastructure: Manage and maintain AWS services including EKS, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudFront, ECR, and related components.
• Kubernetes Platform Operations: Operate and troubleshoot Kubernetes workloads, including Knative, Helm charts, and deployment workflows based on GitOps.
• Security Operations: Triage and remediate vulnerabilities, apply patches, and maintain the organization’s security posture.
• Monitoring & Alerting: Support monitoring, alerts, and incident readiness/troubleshooting.
• Cost Optimization & Deployment Simplification: Assist with cost optimization and work with Engineering to simplify infrastructure and deployment processes.

Requirements

• Kubernetes: Experience deploying, managing, and scaling containerized applications.
• Security fundamentals: Ability to work with vulnerability remediation and scan findings; experience within a compliance framework such as ISO 27001 or SOC 2.
• Scripting/Programming: Proficiency with Python, Go, or Bash.
• DevOps/SRE experience: 3+ years hands-on DevOps/infrastructure/SRE experience, ideally end-to-end ownership at a small-to-medium startup.
• Access/IT admin exposure: Comfort with access administration (e.g., VPN, SSO/Okta, GitHub and/or cloud IAM permissions) and supporting stakeholders with access requests.
• Networking fundamentals and strong cybersecurity best practices.
• Source control & CI/CD: Comfort with Git and CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions or equivalent).
• Infrastructure as Code: Experience with Terraform/Terragrunt.
• Kubernetes packaging: Experience with Kustomize and managing Helm charts.
• AWS production experience: Real-world experience with AWS services such as EKS, S3, Route 53, MSK, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudFront (or similar).
• Containerization: Strong understanding of Docker.
• Production reliability: Experience operating high-availability clusters.

Nice-to-haves

• GitOps tools: FluxCD or ArgoCD.
• Alternative IaC: OpenTofu.
• Databases & secrets: SQL databases, Vault for secret management.
• Cost visibility tools: KubeCost/OpenCost.
• Autoscaling: Karpenter.
• Additional ecosystem: Couchbase, OpenCost/KubeCost, Elastic stack, Prometheus stack, and PagerDuty-style monitoring/incident response.
• AWS organizations: Managing multi-account AWS orgs (e.g., SCPs, OUs, cross-account IAM).
• IoT/connected car or cloud SaaS domain exposure.
• Comfortable using AI-assisted tools for DevOps/IaC and monitoring.

Location / Work Model

• Full remote (Vancouver, CA mentioned).
